Dodge to Dominate

DSC00491.JPG

Lacrosse Players:

All too often we see lacrosse players who have not been trained from the ground up. They might have a good stick, but they fail to develop the tools to be effective in game situations. Long term success takes an understanding of your weaknesses, a plan to address them, and detailed oriented consistent practice from both the athleticism and lax skill set perspectives.

We will shed some light on dodging effectiveness from a different perspective than you are used to. Our understanding of body mechanics, strength, and change of direction, combined with collegiate lacrosse experience from a trainer who made a living off of dodging, brings a multi-disciplinary approach to development and on field success.

About your instructor:

Ethan Rinker was a successful D3 collegiate lacrosse player totaling 116 goals with experience at both attack and midfield. He used his knowledge in strength and conditioning / exercise science to help him achieve his potential on the lacrosse field.
Ethan brings education and experience training the body needs to meet the demands of the sport from a skill development standpoint. By mastering critical movement patterns in a step by step approach, young athletes are able to perform high level, complex skills with experience. Combining progressive strength, footwork, and skill programs, Ethan teaches athletes how to blend these components for optimized performance on the offensive end.

Learn How to Move with Strength, Control, and Confidence

Dodging isn’t just about flashy moves - it’s about control, balance, and power.

In our program, players will learn how to build the strength and body control needed to change direction efficiently and safely to beat their defenders.

We’ll break down each dodge step by step, helping players understand not only what to do, but why it works.

WHY IT MATTERS

Great dodgers aren’t just quick - they’re strong, balanced, and have great control over their bodies. Without a foundation in strength and movement, players limit their potential.

Our goal is to master the basics first so every move becomes faster, smoother, and more effective on the field.

PROGRAM DETAILS

  1. Improvement on the physical qualities that are needed for complex field skills (strength, elasticity, mobility, footwork, coordination, speed, etc.)

  2. Education on why these physical qualities are so important for developing proper mechanics and body control that can prevent injuries.

  3. Building a foundation that can handle high force translation through the ground. The development of the lower leg "spring" is critical for rapid change of direction and loading.

  4. Introduce the specific body angles we will see in dodges in a controlled setting so that a full speed dodge will not be the first time their body has been in that position.

  5. Teach changes of body plane, body control, and what your body should look like performing lacrosse specific things like getting down hill, accelerating, decelerating, surveying, rolling, etc.

  6. Appropriate rate of progression to build confidence in 1-2 dodge variations at a time until they have been mastered, and then move onto to more technical variations.
