PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical Therapist

Health and fitness are comprised of many interrelated components.  In order to improve your results from exercise and achieve your goals, multiple components often need to be addressed.  PEAK is the only training facility in Annapolis that works directly with on-site physical therapists to provide clients with an integrated approach to their health and fitness needs.

KIM KURTZMAN

PT, DPT, Certified Pilates Instructor

Dr. Kim Shemer Kurtzman moved to Annapolis from New York City in 2013, where she spent the previous decade keeping the lights of Broadway bright.  As director of Performing Arts Physical Therapy and later in her own Manhattan practice, Kim worked onsite daily at over 50 Broadway shows, with the Radio City Rockettes and Paul Taylor Dance Company. With a full body approach to rapid treatment and prevention of injuries, Kim was able to keep professional actors, dancers and musicians onstage every night.  Through this work, Kim has become skilled in treating nearly all orthopedic injuries, but she particularly excels at chronic back, pelvis and hip pain, as well as failed cases of injuries treated by traditional physical therapy methods. ANNE HAILE

PT

Anne has been a physical therapist for over 30 years after graduating from Russell Sage College in NY with a degree in Physical Therapy. She found a passion for working with patients who have Fibromyalgia and myofascial pain issues in the early 1990s and has not stopped working to further her education as a manual therapist to serve those in pain, whether it be chronic pain or acute. She founded Haile Physical Therapy in 2008 after realizing there were not enough PT practices where full attention and time was spent focusing one on one with the patients. Looking at the whole person to resolve any issue that they find to be inhibiting them from functioning at their best has always been part of her philosophy. Through advanced courses in Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy and Dry needling, in particular, she has honed her skills to be a detective looking at the whole body in search of the source of the symptoms.  Anne is certified as a Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist in Dry Needling and was the first physical therapist in Anne Arundel County to study this specialized treatment. She is also certified in Functional Nutrition for Chronic Pain as the source of inflammation and pain is often beyond the musculoskeletal system.   In her spare time Anne enjoys spending time hiking with her husband, preferably in the mountains, as well as cooking and experimenting with ways to make her favorite recipes healthier.

STEPHANIE DISQUE

At Mobile Performance Therapy, our therapists focus on pain management and pampering your body, mind, and spirit.  Each session is goal-oriented and customized. To some, this could be a relaxation massage, or to others, a stretch session followed by a spot-specific deep tissue massage.  We understand that every client is different, with varying goals and complaints, so we make it a priority to communicate and listen to our clients and then formulate a plan for each session as well as an overall treatment plan.  Our goal for each session is to have our clients leaving with a sense of renewal- allowing them to live their lives pain free, and engage in all of the activities they love.

PILATES

PILATES
Pilates Stretches

I teach an open-level fundamentals Pilates class that focuses on correct muscle activation and alignment of the spine.  A fundamentals class is by no means an easy class.  Regardless of your Pilates experience or level of fitness, you will greatly benefit from adding this approach to your life.  It is great for beginners (though I recommend one private lesson to get oriented first), for more experienced practitioners who wish to refine and hone their technique in order to advance, and for very active people who are struggling to get to the next level of fitness. Since I am a practicing physical therapist, this class is also great for people with injuries who are nervous about getting hurt through exercise.  I limit class size so that I can have my eyes on each and every one of you to ensure perfect form.  And it’s fun!  Please join me!
